"We Bloom" OpeningConstructing this year's opening was very surreal as it meant we're nearing the end of our last yearbook. The original copy of the opening spoke on how all of high school experiences contribute to students' growth. Whether that was the hard times like botched auditions, failed tests, lost games. Or the good times like scoring a spot on homecoming court, making the winning goal or performing in the spring musical. Our copy took a complete turn when we had to consider the circumstances of this year and the pandemic. But that was okay, because the aspect of growth was more present than ever.

"The Golden Days" OpeningConstructing the opening was the first specialty project I completed, alongside my other Editors-in-Chief. After postponing the opening each deadline, it had gotten to the point where we had to just rip the bandaid off and do it. Bouncing off ideas for the design, copy and photography was unforgettable. Because it was our 100th book, when it came to copy, it wasn’t just about the history of the year. Working with two other writers, we wrote about the history of the century for East Lansing High School.

"The Golden Days" ClosingWe wrapped up our book’s copy writing on how each captured moment shaped who we became. Each memory of nail-biting flockey finals, half-time rollercoasters and class cup made us golden.
As we moved on from the year, we wrote on how we will take each memory recorded in The Golden Days to make our future just as golden. |

"The Golden Days" DividersThe process of writing the dividers with two other writers was chaotic, but I loved it. I remember simultaneously writing in the same doc, making us lose our place multiple times. For each section, we wrote on the history of the past 100 years and how that history allowed students to have golden moments in every aspect of high school.
